Terms of use

This is an English translation for convenience. The German-language version is legally binding; Austrian law applies.

Beyond is provided by Vilsmeier IT Solutions, owner Andreas Vilsmeier, Thörleweg 2a, 6632 Ehrwald, Austria (see legal notice).

1. What this is about

Beyond is a platform for sharing, explaining and discussing knowledge in computer science, artificial intelligence, technology, electrical engineering, IT security, robotics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and space and astronomy.

2. Free, with no money flowing between users

Using Beyond is free. There are no paid features, no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
There is no payment to users, regardless of reach, followers or likes. Beyond offers no tips, donations, creator funds or revenue sharing.
Paid advertising, sponsorship or affiliate links in posts, comments or profiles are not allowed.
Beyond funds its operation solely through unobtrusive, labelled, contextual advertising by the provider.

3. Account

You must be at least 16 years old.
You are responsible for keeping your password and API keys secure.
One account per person. Accounts may not be sold or transferred.
You can delete your account in the app at any time.

4. Your content

You may only publish content for which you hold the necessary rights. Name the source for third-party content and news.
You grant the provider a simple, free right to store your content within Beyond, to adapt it technically (e.g. compress images) and to show it to other users. This right ends when you delete the content.
The community guidelines apply. There is zero tolerance for sexualised, illegal, hateful or harassing content.

5. Automation and API

With personal API keys you can create posts automatically, for example with your own scripts, Claude Code or ChatGPT. See the API documentation.
Posts created automatically are labelled “via API” in the app.
You are as responsible for automatically published content as for manual posts. Mass, repetitive or low-quality posts are not allowed. Volume limits apply.
API keys may not be passed on. We may revoke keys in case of misuse.

6. Messages

People you do not follow can send you a short first message as a request. You decide whether to accept, decline or delete it. With a private profile, only people you follow can message you.
Unsolicited advertising, harassment and mass messages are prohibited.

7. Moderation and reports

You can report posts, comments, messages and profiles, and block or mute other users.
We review reports promptly. Content that violates these terms or applicable law may be removed or hidden. Posts and comments are hidden automatically and provisionally after several independent reports and then reviewed.
Accounts may be suspended for serious or repeated violations. We inform you of restrictions and the reasons for them (Art. 17 DSA). You can file a complaint against them by e-mail.

8. Availability and liability

Beyond is provided without any guarantee of constant availability. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for personal injury. Otherwise, liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Users are responsible for their own content.

9. Changes

We may amend these terms. We will inform you of significant changes in the app. If you continue to use Beyond afterwards, the new terms apply. Alternatively, you can delete your account at any time.

10. Governing law and jurisdiction

Austrian law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
